Community Hospital-Fairfax Expands Mental Health Services, Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic and New Senior Life Solutions Building on Campus

Senior Life Solutions, an intensive group counseling program for individuals over age 65, opened on the Community Hospital-Fairfax campus in early 2016. The purpose of the program is to serve people who are facing challenges such as loss of a loved one, hopelessness and other issues often related to aging.

Since opening, the program has been incredibly successful. Participants speak highly of the positive changes in their life and the program continues to grow. In the spring of 2017, the Community Hospital-Fairfax Senior Life Solutions program was recognized as one of the top five programs of its kind in the nation. More importantly, it is meeting a need for additional mental health services that was identified by the CH-F Community Needs Assessment in 2013 and again in 2016.

Community Hospital-Fairfax is committed to providing opportunities for this program to grow and continue to serve the needs of the community. To provide Senior Life Solutions the space needed to grow, a modular building was moved onto the CH-F campus on Thursday, May 25. The new modular has been painted to match the hospital exterior and will be furnished and decorated to be both a place of comfort and healing.

Gail Heitman, RN and Program Director, shared, “We really feel that the work we are doing in this program is making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve. Our new building is going to provide even more opportunity to help others. We couldn’t be more excited.”

Senior Life Solutions is just part of the mental health service expansion at CH-F. James Fleming M.D. will also be joining CH-F’s outpatient clinic as a psychiatrist. Dr. Fleming will be working with area primary care providers offering services for adolescent and adult patients.

If you or a loved one believe that you may benefit from the services offered at Senior Life Solutions, please reach out to the program at (660) 686-2319. Appointments with Dr. Fleming may be made through a referral from a primary care physician.
