It is with great excitement that Community Hospital-Fairfax announces a new 5 star rating for patient experience from Medicare. The 5 Star rating was just released July 20, 2015.
Medicare developed the star rating system to give patients a quick and easy way to assess the patient experience at hospitals. The star rating is calculated by comparing one hospitals patient survey data to another hospital’s patient survey information. More stars represents better quality care.
Hospitals receive stars based on their performance in several key areas of quality care. Nurse and physician communication, responsiveness, pain management, discharge information and cleanliness represent just a few.
“We are one of the only hospitals in the region to receive 5 Stars. We could not be more appreciative to our patients for the constructive feedback they provide and for choosing us for their care” explained Roger Steinkruger, CEO.
In the last star rating release in April, only 7% of 3,500 hospitals received 5 stars. The distribution of star ratings for the July release is not yet available.
