Community Hospital-Fairfax Welcomes James Fleming M.D., Psychiatrist, to Outpatient Clinics
Throughout region and entire nation, mental illness is a growing issue. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that 25% of adults in the United States have a mental illness. Local efforts corroborate the need. Community Hospital-Fairfax (CH-F) Community Needs Assessment efforts in 2013 and again in 2016, identified mental illness as the number one unmet health need in the community.
To better serve the community, CH-F is excited to welcome James Fleming M.D. for an outpatient psychiatric clinic. Dr. Fleming is a board-certified psychiatrist. He completed his medical training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1985 and his residency at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington D.C. in 1989.
Dr. Fleming has served as the President of the Western Missouri Psychiatry Society from 2007 to 2009 and as the Continuing Education Chair of the Missouri Psychiatric Association (2010-2015.) He also serves as the Medical Director of Senior Life Solutions, a group therapy program for seniors located at Community Hospital-Fairfax. He has received special training in holistic, mind and body care.
“I feel honored to be able to meet the mental health needs of this community. I look forward to working with the hospital staff as we build an effective mental health program” stated Dr. Fleming.
Dr. Fleming and the medical staff at CH-F have established a very collaborative working relationship to preserve continuity of care. Community members are encouraged to work through their primary care provider for an appointment with Dr. Fleming.
“We came to know Dr. Fleming through the work he has done with the Senior Life Solutions program. We are excited about the additional expertise he brings to our community and the work we can do together to better serve the needs of our patients” explained Aron Burke M.D., Chief Medical Officer.
