There was a bug inside Mrs. Simanek’s third grade classroom at Fairfax elementary school on April 6, 2009.

Fortunately, the third graders were not scared of this “Glo Bug” that was brought by Community Hospital-Fairfax COO Rhonda Evans to demonstrate the importance of hand washing to the students.

The “Glo Bug” has a halogen light that showed the dirty areas on the students’ hands. After using proper hand-washing techniques, they looked at their hands again through the bug to see that the germs had been washed away.

This demonstration is a great way to illustrate that washing your hands properly is a great way to stop the spread of germs and stay healthy.
