Speaker's Bureau



The Community Hospital-Fairfax speaker's bureau provides the public with people who are willing and able to speak to groups on a particular topic.  Our staff provides in-depth, interesting and informative discussions on a variety of topics.  To find out how to invite a member of the CH-F speaker's bureau to your group or organization's next meeting, please contact Jennifer Herron, 686-2211 ext. 208 or jenniferh@fairfaxmed.com.

Hospital updates, general information

Myra Evans, CEO or Ann Schlueter, Dir. of Strategic Planning

Learn about general hospital happenings and an overview of services. Myra or Ann provide information on the new hospital building project as well as new physicians, clinics and activities.

Development, Fundraising

Ann Schlueter, Dir. of Strategic Planning or Jennifer Herron, Marketing/Communications Coordinator

Ann and Jennifer enjoy speaking about the Development Department’s activities. Learn about how the office creates fundraising events for the hospital. Also, Ann presents information on job shadowing, volunteering and scholarship opportunities.

Infection Control

Any member of the hospital’s Infection Control Committee.

Topics available through the Infection Control Committee vary from proper hand washing technique demonstrations to staying healthy during flu season. The committee meets often and can tailor programs that work for your organization.

This topic’s purpose is to help you prepare and plan for certain types of disaster, including natural occurrences such as floods or tornadoes.

Heart Health

Jackie Martin, Nurse Manager, Dir. of Cardiopulmonary

Jackie looks forward to discussing heart disease and prevention, signs and symptoms of heart disease and how to live healthy.

Pandemic Preparedness

Beth Mackey, Dir. of Radiology, Disaster Preparedness Team member

Pandemic Preparedness covers the steps of planning protection for you and your family during a possible flu outbreak. Beth will present ways to help stop the spread of germs in your home, workplace and places you come in contact with every day. She can also explain how Community Hospital-Fairfax prepares for a pandemic outbreak.

Medicare Issues

Suzanne Southard, Chief Financial Officer

Suzanne is able to discuss common concerns and questions about Medicare. She can help the public understand how the differences between traditional Medicare and Medicare Managed Care (Medicare Advantage and Part D, the prescription drug program) effect individuals.

Personal Health Information

Gay Martin, Dir. of Health Information Management

Invite Gay Martin to your organization’s meeting to learn the importance of organizing and updating your and your family’s personal health information.

Physical Therapy/Postural Restoration

Brad Howe, PT

Brad is very passionate about “postural restoration,” a way to find problem areas in a person’s body based on that person’s natural tendencies. He is more than happy to speak to groups about this or other subjects focused on physical health and therapy.

Information on Blood Typing, donation

Steve Blackard, Dir. of Laboratory Services

Steve offers information on the importance of knowing your blood type, becoming a blood donor and other related topics. Steve will discuss a variety of topics and is willing to work with any group to develop specific programs.

Home Health

Jeanie Mackey, Dir. of Home Health

Home Health Services can provide assistance in the lives of your family and loved ones. Jeanie will provide information on what is available through the program. She can also tell your group about who is eligible for Home Health and how to decide if Home Health Services can help you and your family.

Asthma Education

Jackie Martin, Nurse Manager, Dir. of Cardiopulmonary

Jackie will give your group an overview of adult and/or pediatric asthma. Specific topics include signs and symptoms, maintenance and treatment. Jackie can also discuss allergies related to asthma.

Diet/ Diabetes Education

Karen Wedlock, RN, Certified Diabetes Educator

Invite Karen to your meeting for a general discussion on diet or diabetes management. Karen is willing to speak on a variety of topics, which can be discussed upon request. Karen also has presentation for young adults about careers in health care.
